All Nations Social Cricket in Dandenong is making waves and providing a safe and friendly environment for individuals of all backgrounds to learn and play cricket.
The program, which is catered to asylum seekers who have an interest in cricket, will run every Wednesday from 5 October, 5pm-6.30pm and is all year round.
Refugees from countries such as Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Sudan have flocked to the program, with its inclusiveness and ability to bring different cultures together through their love of cricket having an impact in the community.
The sessions will run as a Super Sevens Cricket tournament at the pop-up park next to Dandenong Train Station, and anyone is welcome to show up and get involved.
All Nations first began in October 2014 at the Dandenong Showgrounds, and with the support of Cricket Victoria’s Multicultural offices and Cricket Victoria Regional Cricket Manager Adrian Jones, has been a successful way for refugees to engage with their local communities.
The program has just recently announced that they will be playing in E Grade for Dandenong West Cricket Club in the DDCA this season, another step-forward in the rise of the program.
All Nations are looking to further expand into other levels of competition, such is the breadth of talent and enthusiasm among the participants.
They also run Sunday matches at various grounds in Casey and Greater Dandenong.
Anyone who is interested in joining the program can contact Abdul Razzaq on 0430 783 526 or allnationscricketdandenong@gmail.com
