Bikies punch, kick L-plater riding on busy freeway

A gang of bikies has kicked and punched a L-plate motorcycle rider while travelling down a busy freeway.

Dashcam footage shows five members of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang riding on the Monash Freeway, in Melbourne’s southeast, on October 19.

One member of the group then targets an unidentified L-plate bike rider for no apparent reason by trying to kicking and punch him as they ride past.

Victoria Police Detective Acting Inspector Alan Rumble said the victim was forced to take evasive action to avoid crashing.

“Targeting an innocent L-plate motorbike rider who was simply going about his day is seriously reckless and cowardly behaviour,” Det Act Insp Rumble said on Monday.

“This is completely unacceptable behaviour by an outlaw motorcycle gang – thinking they are above the law and putting innocent members of our community at risk.

“We are not intimidated by outlaw motorcycle gangs, and we will not allow our community to be either.”

Investigators are yet to identify the victim and are keen to speak to him and on Monday called for anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.
