Chance at the crown

A CASEY-based stalwart of the building industry last week had the chance to take home a Housing Industry Association (HIA) Renovation and Building Award.
Hayden Loomes, who has spent 25 years working in the building industry, was nominated as a finalist in the awards, which took place on Friday, 7 November, at Crown.
Hayden works for Smith and Sons, having been a qualified builder for more than a decade.
“We strive to be a complete solution for our clients so we undertake design and drafting in-house,” Hayden said, speaking prior to the event.
“I had a client recently comment how easy it was to deal with us due to the draftsman and builder being on site together during the concept stage of the build.”
Hayden said kitchens and bathrooms were the areas that home owners wanted renovated most frequently.
“The cost of moving house is on the increase with stamp duties and relocation costs rising,” he said.
“We are able to offer a solution to our clients by providing them the added space they need and remain in their home.”
Hayden, also a CFA volunteer, lives in Casey with wife, Vanessa, and their three sons.
