Servo robberies: two men hunted

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

POLICE are hunting two men who robbed a Eumemmerring petrol station last week and threatened the attendant with a knife and an axe.
The frightening incident occurred just before 3am on Friday 8 April when the intruders forced open the front glass door at the Princes Highway store, after throwing a brick at it.
They threatened the employee and demanded cash and cigarettes.
Once the attendant handed over the items, the men fled towards Doveton Avenue.
Police believe the same men robbed another petrol station in Murrumbeena, on North Road, an hour earlier that night.
At this store, the pair threw a brick through the glass door and threatened staff with an axe and a meat cleaver just after 2am.
It’s understood the intruders forced their way behind the counter and stole cash before fleeing.
The same people are thought to be involved in an attempted armed robbery at a petrol station on Belgrave-Hallam Road in Hallam on Wednesday 6 April just after 1am.
In this incident, they tried to gain access to an internal door but fled the scene empty-handed.
Police have released CTTV images of the men in the hope they can be identified.
Anyone with information about the armed robbery is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
