High-tech toilets bring relief

BY JARROD McALEESE

NEW toilet facilities have been installed at Hallam Station – the first to be built at an unstaffed metropolitan Melbourne train station.
The two new automated toilets feature large cubicles and hand basins with one unit also providing baby changing facilities.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Couacaud Graley said that while the delayed completion of the project was not ideal, the initiative will be of great assistance to all, particularly those travelling with infants.
“The previous Liberal Government caused a stink when they refused to proceed with an upgrade of Hallam Station that was fully funded by Labor, leaving local commuters stranded.
“We’ve had to wait for too long, but these fantastic new facilities are now up and running, accessible for all and include much needed baby changing facilities,” Ms Couacaud Graley said.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said that residents who utilised the Hallam Station for their daily travels will welcome the completed works.
“We know that the lack of toilet facilities has been a constant concern for local commuters who use this station each and every day to get to and from work or school.
“It’s a small but much needed improvement to Hallam Station that will ensure no-one has to hold on until they reach their destination,” Mr Donnellan said.
