IN A way, Doveton College went way out-of-bounds for three days this month.
The college’s students and early-learning pupils were uprooted from their campus, instead holding reading classes and self-defence demos in front of shoppers at nearby Autumn Place.
Community engagement co-ordinator Alan McCarthy said the pop-up classrooms led to several new enrolments for its adult computer, craft and literacy programs.
“We’re not just a school and early-learning centre but there are opportunities for adults – whether they have students at the school or not.”
Aside from the courses, the college is hosting a free community justice panel on rental disputes on 6 May from 9.30-11.30am.
