Three lines of red oaks will soon bring a blaze of colour to Heatherton Road, Endeavour Hills.
Planting of the bright red-leaved deciduous trees on the median strip and both sides of the road opposite Endeavour Hills shopping centre was expected to begin on 12 July as part of a $500,000 Casey Council project.
Casey councillor Rafal Kaplon, who initiated the Heatherton Road Boulevard idea, said the trees would be individually dedicated to outstanding servants of the community, CFA and police.
“Once the trees are established and reach full maturity, they will create an amazing free canopy along Heatherton Road,” Cr Kaplon said.
He said the project would help brighten the area after the spate of terrorism-related incidents.
“This project is a necessity to … restore a sense of community spirit that has been affected by the sad events that had occurred in the area over the last two years,” he said.
The project includes installing flagpoles at the corner of Heatherton Road and Mossgiel Park Drive.
