War veterans can ride free public transport to the Battle of Long Tan 50th anniversary march and service in Melbourne’s CBD.
The State Government has announced that Australian Defence Force members can travel free on 18 August, also known as Vietnam Veterans Day.
School students can also access free public transport on the day between 9.30am-2.30pm.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Couacaud Graley said the announcement was a “small gesture of thanks” to veterans.
“I urge local residents to come together and recognise the contribution and sacrifices of our veterans on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.”
The commemoration is at Shrine of Remembrance on 18 August from 10.45am.
