Escapees leave a trail

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

In its own words, The Escapees Theatre Company has been “on the run” for a decade.
What’s left behind from more than 30 shows is a “colourful explosion” of props, costumes, wigs, sets, photos and posters, said company director Alice Scerri.
The memorabilia is being exhibited at Hallam Senior College to mark the company’s 10th anniversary.
The opening also coincided with the premiere of the play Lemonade, which was written and directed by Lara Chamas and finished its run at the Hallam Community Theatre on 15 July.
Ms Scerri said it was a beautiful play about a girl coming to terms with an unpromising diagnosis.
“She is going through the stages of grief, trying to come to terms with the news,” Ms Scerri said.
“It’s not all sad, though, there’s some comedy in there, too.”
The exhibition, A Decade on the Run, is open from 7pm to 9pm until 20 July at the Hallam Community Theatre.
