Not so great

SO MUCH for greater Dandenong. So much for greater Melbourne. So much for the new parking at Springvale Railway Station.
On the morning of 22 November between 10am and 12.30pm someone broke into my car and, lucky for him/her, found my GPS and it was stolen.
Nothing was in view to discourage crooks/opportunists that in my car there is anything of value.
The glove box and console compartment were open and every item thrown on the floor of the car.
I left everything as it was and drove home. Once there I took a couple of photos. After that I put everything back in the glove and console boxes.
To my surprise the thief left the GPS car charger and also missed a couple of $5 notes that I had in the locker.
I did not bother to report it to the police – I thought it wasn’t necessary.
It has been years since I have been to greater Dandenong.
I also avoid, if possible, travelling to Melbourne and certainly not during the night.
When I do travel for necessity I do it during day and make sure I return in daylight, too.
So much for greater Melbourne – it is better to avoid it.
Glorious were the days when Melbourne and Dandenong were so great. The greatness of the tall buildings contrast greater with the soullessness of the base.
Juan Perez,
Keysborough.
