School roof set on fire

By Brendan Rees

Casey Crime Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses to a suspicious fire at Mossgiel Park Primary School in Endeavour Hills on the 29 April.

Hallam CFA was called to the school at 4.50pm, following reports of a fire.

Senior Constable Alison Johnson said it’s alleged unknown arsonists set fire to the roof of the gymnasium inside the school property.

Minor to moderate damage was caused to the roof and the wall of a toilet, she said.

Sen Const Johnson said security saw a child aged between eight to 10-years-old on the roof.

“He saw the child jump down to the water tank area and met up with another child about 11 years old,” she said. “Both got onto their push bikes and rode off towards the back of the gymnasium.”

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Anyone with any information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
