Police station is set to celebrate

ENDEAVOUR Hills police station will celebrate its 10th birthday tomorrow (Tuesday).
A special dinner will be held on Tuesday night as officers past and present congregate to reflect on what the station has achieved in the past decade.
Sergeant John Blackburn has worked at the station for the whole 10 years and said it has had a noticeable impact on crime in Endeavour Hills and the surrounding suburbs.
“There was a real need for an Endeavour Hills police station at the start, there were a lot of youth problems, hoon driving and burglaries,” he said.
“The Doveton area also didn’t have the policing it deserved.
“The presence of the police station and police driving around has brought those under control and made the area feel a lot safer.”
Retired Senior Sergeant Mike Jenkins, who was pivotal in starting up the station will present a speech at Tuesday’s dinner.
The Journal will cover the event in next week’s edition.
