POLICE were called when a youth event in Berwick spun out of control last week.
About 11.30pm on Thursday 20 November local police as well as specialist crowd control officers from Melbourne attended the Salvation Army Hall and Parkhill Plaza Shopping Centre in Berwick to break up a brawl between two groups.
Both groups of males were in the area for an alcohol free event to raise funds for migrant communities.
A large number of African and Pacific Islander youths attended and a brawl erupted inside the venue and continued outside.
Bottles were thrown at police when they arrived but they managed to break up the incident without any officers being injured.
