Pereira at 21

By JARROD POTTER

VSDCA South East 1st XI – Round 6 (day 1)

A TRICKY day in the field leaves Endeavour Hills (1/13) and Oakleigh (210).
Captain Chris Pereira (5/42) burdened a 17.2 over slog against the Oakleigh attack, but was always a step ahead of his counterparts en route to capturing his 21st wicket of the season.
Vaughan Baxter (3/35) also impressed from his 14 overs as did Gamindu Amarasinghe (2/43) in his second outing for the Eagles.
The bogey wicket of Oakleigh’s Brent Warren (43) – out edging Baxter to the keeper Ben Swift – opened the floodgates and allowed the Eagles to swoop in and stop the bleeding.
Pereira’s final spell earned the last two wickets and sent Oakleigh out to field.
Zach Allen (0) fell in the 17-over spell before stumps leaving Shean Vanderwert (8 not out) – who is celebrating the birth of his sixth child Malea this week – and Thomas Hafil (3 not out) to resume on Saturday.
NOBLE PARK v MOORABBIN
NOBLE Park (3/56) went most of the way to first innings victory after steamrolling Moorabbin (92). Sean Schubert rattled off four scalps while Ash Perera and Marasinghe Perera claimed a brace apiece. In response Noble Park is 3/56 chasing 92 and well set to make an attack on outright points to help push the Bulls back up the VSDCA South East ladder.
