FOUR people are facing court after a police crackdown on number plate crime.
Greater Dandenong Police Service Area Inspector Bruce Kitchen said the operation included 11 shifts over six weeks and targeted 6077 vehicles.
He said officers issued 18 infringement notices for unregistered or uninsured vehicles and fraudulent use of number plates.
They also processed four people for a number of criminal matters.
Insp Kitchen urged car owners to install one-way screws to secure their plates against theft.
He said stolen plates were often used in other crimes, including petrol drive-offs and burglaries.
