FIRE attacks on rubbish bins have prompted police to warn residents to bring in their bins as quickly as possible after they have been emptied.
Greater Dandenong Police Service Area Inspector Bruce Kitchen said vandals had set alight several bins on nature strips in recent weeks.
“We had the same problem last year,” he said.
“Try to put your bin out as late as possible and take it off the roadway first thing in the morning when it’s been emptied.”
Insp Kitchen also urged residents to be on alert for potential firebugs hanging around grass areas.
“And if you do smoke, butt out your cigarette and put it in an ash tray or a proper receptacle,” he said.
You’ve bin warned
