A WELL-RESPECTED group of Casey artists has been awarded an Anzac Centenary grant for a special exhibition to be held later this year.
Provenance Artists, a not-for-profit group of local artists, was awarded the $22,605 grant this month to help put together its Holt Anzac Centenary Fine Art Exhibition in July.
Passionate artist Calvin Bell has now called on residents from the Holt electorate to lend any artefacts to the group that they may have of WWI to be used as inspiration for paintings or even displayed at the exhibition.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne helped push for the Federal grant, with two others also approved for local organisations, including $3420 for the Cranbourne Combined Patchworkers, and $814 for the Saffron Grove Retirement Village in Hallam.
The grant will see 30 artists given the ability to paint a range of Anzac pieces for the exhibition, of which five will be student artists, five will be hobby artists, 10 will be emerging artists and 10 will be established Provenance artists.
The Holt Anzac Centenary Fine Art Exhibition will take place from 3 to 5 July at the Narre Warren Mechanics Institute Hall in Webb Street.
Residents with WWI photos are encouraged to contact Provenance Artists secretary Rhonda Rawson on 9707 4286 or at randrrawson@bigpond.com.
Interested artists should contact Provenance Artists at provenance@tpg.com.au and attach two photos of their current work.
Applications are now open and will close on 11 March.
