Victory a tall order

NPL 1 EAST – Round 3

VICTORY was snatched from Dandenong City by none less than … the Victory.
Dandenong City would kick itself for allowing a schoolboy error at the back to give the young Melbourne charges a point in a 1-1 draw.
Controversy would be brought to Frank Holohan Reserve by a former City-faithful as Damian Miskulin brought down ex-team mate Dario Matkovic.
Drawing a spot kick, Matkovic failed to make the most of the chance as it was expertly knocked away by Victory keeper Lucas Spinella.
Other chances would come and go for City, but none stuck as the Endeavour Hills-based team struggled to break through the Victory defences.
It would remain deadlocked until the second half as neither side could connect with its chances early on.
The go-ahead goal would come from a usual source as reigning NPL 1 league MVP Sean Seavill was played into the box and slammed home what should have been the match-winner, but the Victory didn’t give up.
The Victory seized a dying minutes’ opportunity as Stefan Nigro put in the equaliser as City struggled to clear a goal-line ball.
Dandenong City will host Box Hill United on Saturday while Springvale White Eagles will head to Goulburn Valley on Saturday night after a 0-1 loss to Box Hill United.
