NARRE Warren North MP Luke Donnellan has urged emergency service groups in Hallam to draw on a multi-million dollar funding boost from the State Government.
On Wednesday Mr Donnellan announced applications are now open for the 2015-16 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) for which the government will provide up to $12.54 million to groups across the state.
“Volunteers perform a vital role and are the backbone of the emergency services organisations that we all rely upon.
“Their dedication and hard work keeps our community safe,” Mr Donnellan said.
“The Victorian Government is supporting emergency service volunteers by providing them with access to funds to carry out their roles safely and efficiently.
“I strongly encourage all eligible groups in the Narre Warren and Hallam area to apply for Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program funding.”
The VESEP program offers grants up to $100,000 for emergency service volunteer groups to assist with responding to emergencies such as fires, floods, heatwaves, storms, water rescues or related incidents.
The grants are used to purchase additional operational equipment, vehicles, trucks, tankers, watercraft, trailers and support minor facility improvements.
The program is open to the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association, the CFA, Life Saving Victoria, the SES, and several other eligible volunteer emergency groups.
