Road rage driver hits car with hammer

Narre Warren police are appealing for witnesses after reports of a man driving erratically, tailgating and striking a Lexus with a hammer on the Monash Freeway on Thursday 23 April.
The silver 2010 Toyota Rukus was driving outbound near Heatherton Road about 3.15pm.
Police were told the car began to tailgate a white Lexus and then stopped in front of it.
The driver then got out of his car and began hitting the Lexus with a hammer.
It is reported the man got back into his car and continued driving onto the South Gippsland Highway and onto the Westernport Highway.
Police intercepted the vehicle on the Westernport Highway.
The 23-year-old man did not comply with police direction and was subsequently arrested at the scene.
The Carrum Downs man was released a short time later pending further inquiries.
The male driver of the Lexus was not injured during the incident.
Police want to speak with witnesses and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
