SEABL – Round 3
THE traditional ANZAC Day SEABL blockbuster between Dandenong and Frankston showed with a double-Dandy triumph.
Fighting their way back into the clash, the Dandenong men stole the match from under Frankston’s nose with a 44-28 second half fight back to register a five-point victory.
Leading the charge was Chris Patton (21 points, 10 rebounds) as he excelled in his best match to date in the Dandenong strip. Also on fire were Daequon Montreal (17 points, 10 rebounds) and the rebounding machine known as Lucas Walker (8 points, 17 rebounds).
Dandenong men face Mt Gambier at home from 7pm Saturday.
Pushing aside the Frankston fortress first were the Dandenong women, who claimed a 70-66 triumph.
Jacinta Kennedy (22 points, 10 rebounds) flew out of the blocks for the women in the first match of the double-card, but was reeled in by a group-defensive effort from Frankston.
It only opened up the Rangers’ other avenues to the basket as Amelia Todhunter (13 points) and Tenaya Phillips (10 points) lit it up.
Dandenong women head to Canberra on Saturday to face Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence.
BIG V Division 2 – Round 6
FLEXING its muscles in BIG V Division 2, Keysborough cantered home to an 85-56 win over newcomers Collingwood.
Going easy on the new boys – despite the 29-point score line disparity – Keysborough coach Nathan Vogt rotated his bench and gave his starters well-earned rests… but not before dominating on the scoreboard.
Best of the brigade were Andrew Pattison (17 points, 9 rebounds) and David Smith (12 points, 7 rebounds) while Malcolm Heard (9 points, 5 rebounds) was powerful in his very limited time on court.
Even the big Oyster, Robert Ostojic (4 points) got minutes in Keysborough’s rampaging victory.
Keysborough’s women were downed 51-78 by Blackburn as Emily Rider (10 points, 11 rebounds) dropped her first double-double in the Cougars’ colours.
Keysborough men and women face Mornington this weekend away from 6pm.
