Older couple flee burning house

AN ELDERLY couple has been rushed to hospital after their Endeavour Hills home went up in flames in the early hours of the morning.
Firefighters were called to the Daniel Solander Drive property around 2am on Wednesday where the house was “fully engulfed” when they arrived.

The man and woman had fled the fire after being alerted by a smoke alarm, and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Fire crews brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes but the home was destroyed.

A CFA spokeswoman said the non-suspicious fire started in the home’s laundry and was fuelled by “significant clutter” in the home.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said a man in his seventies appeared to suffer from smoke inhalation and was taken with the woman to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.
