AN ELDERLY couple has been rushed to hospital after their Endeavour Hills home went up in flames in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Firefighters called to the Daniel Solander Drive property around 2am on found the house “fully engulfed” when they arrived.
The pair had fled the fire after being alerted by a smoke alarm, and were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes but the home was destroyed.
A CFA spokeswoman said the non-suspicious fire started in the home’s laundry and was fuelled by “significant clutter” in the home.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said a man in his seventies appeared to suffer from smoke inhalation and was taken to the Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition along with the woman.
