McGee’s men stand tall

VAFA – DIVISION 2
CHALLENGED earnestly for the first time this year, St John’s had to dig deep to come-from-behind to knock off Richmond Central.
A perilously-even clash threatened to go either way, but in the end Ben McGee’s men stood victorious after a four-goal final term clinched the seven-point triumph.
Rohan Scott continues to be a lace-out target for the JOCs as he bagged six goals, while powerful defender/ruck Daniel Cattolico also impressed alongside Rhys Dyker and Cameron Christiansen.
The win keeps the JOCs atop the VAFA Division-2 ladder as the only unbeaten side and will host third ranked Old Paradians in St John’s biggest test yet.
VAFA – DIVISION 4
Masala’s ascension to Division 4 is proving a tough pill to swallow, following a 70-point loss to North Brunswick. Jordan Toikalkin (three goals) was at his mercurial best – breaking the lines and running for days – while James Logan and Zachary Kelly also stood out.
Masala will host Box Hill North this weekend.
EFL – DIVISION 1
BLITZING North Ringwood, the Bulls showed its might in Eastern’s Division-1 competition, isn’t fleeting.
The visitors would bag 20 goals as Kyle Martin (four goals) – regained top spot in the league’s goal kicking – with Ziggy Alwan (four goals) and Dan Keely (three goals) also having fun in the forward half. Craig Anderson, Sam Monaghan and Tim Harper were the main powerhouses pushing Noble Park to the 107-point triumph.
Noble Park now heads up the mountain to face one of its main bogey sides from 2014 – Montrose.
