Stage set for music funding

NEW funding has been made available for aspiring Casey musicians who want the chance to get up on stage and wow a crowd.
Youth Affairs Minister Jenny Mikakos was joined by Melbourne DJ Rellik and other local musicians at Fitzroy Town Hall earlier this month to announce the opening of FReeZA grant applications.
The program provides funding for organisations to involve young people to plan and stage fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free events in their community.
Each year more than 130,000 young people from across the state attend more than 400 FReeZA events.
“The FReeZA program is an opportunity for young people to socialise and have fun while gaining valuable experience and skills organising free local youth events,” Ms Mikakos said.
“I strongly encourage local governments and community organisations to apply, and realise the full benefit for their communities of enabling local talent to stage a range of free locally-produced events.”
Applications for the 2016-2018 FReeZA program are open for six weeks and close on Friday 21 August.
Successful applicants will be announced in October.
