Rhonda’s pumped at making the cut

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

A GYM junkie with a difference, Rhonda Morrison from the YMCA Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre could be the best tots’ teacher in the state.
A passionate kinder gym specialist Rhonda is one of six YMCA members up for the organisations Victoria staff award for excellence in sport and recreation.
Coaching the art of gymnastics to children as young as one for more than five years, Rhonda said she felt very humbled by the nomination.
“I was very surprised and honoured – I’ve never been nominated for something like this before,” she said.
After making the cut at a local and regional level, Rhonda’s manager Carly Sanders said she had a knack for including everyone and was an asset to the Endeavour Hills YMCA team.
“She certainly has a real passion for working with kids and providing safe learning activities,” Carly said.
The YMCA gymnastics program teaches patience, encouragement and teamwork, and Carly said it was a great way to set children up for primary school.
“Rhonda is fantastic at building up a child’s confidence and is very much about participation.
“She always has a smile on her face,” Carly said.
Rhonda will find out her fate at the YMCA awards night which will be held on Friday 23 October.
