AN ENDEAVOUR Hills driver was assaulted in an attempted car-jacking in Doveton during which a woman walked onto the road forcing him to stop and he was chased by four people wielding poles.
The incident occurred on Friday 5 February at 9.27pm on Kidds Road, Doveton, during which the 25-year-old victim sustained minor bruising and swelling.
After stopping the victim’s car, the woman was greeted by three men.
The driver got out of his car and was threatened by the group during which the men, aged in their late teens and early 20s, demanded his keys, wallet and phone.
There was a physical altercation during which the man’s keys were stolen.
Luckily the victim managed to retrieve his keys from the ground and he was then able to get back inside his car.
As he drove off he was chased down the street by the group of four who were waving poles.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Freeman said many witnesses had come forward but urged anyone with information to also contact police.
“If anyone is put into a situation like this, drive to the nearest police station and don’t exit the vehicle,” he said.
The female was described as being in her 30s, small framed and 130cm tall with brown hair and bad skin.
She was wearing a dress and was holding a dark handbag.
