Runaway driver nabbed by bystanders

Bystanders made a citizen’s arrest in Endeavour Hills following a terminated police pursuit and collision on Heatherton Road.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers tried to stop a Holden sedan about 10.15am on Wednesday 24 August and alleged that the driver failed to stop.
They followed the car, she said, but terminated the chase following a risk assessment.
The car then allegedly collided with another vehicle on Heatherton Road and the driver ran from the scene.
Members of the public followed the man and detained him until police arrived, the spokeswoman said.
Officers arrested a 23-year-old man and he was assisting with their inquiries. No injuries were reported.
