Struggling families enjoy free food

About $10,000 of free fresh fruit, vegetables and dairy produce was given out to families in Doveton on 24 February.
The second Farm to Family Day held in Doveton supplied bags of food to about 250 families.
The Salvation Army Dandenong’s Project Hope manager John Farquharson said the giveaway would be a boost to battling households.
He told of an African new arrival and single mother of four who said last year’s event gave her family “something good” for the weekend.
“If only there were more,” she said.
The event was supported by Bulla Foods, Foodbank Victoria and The Salvation Army.
