Christmas coward punch probed

Casey detectives are hunting a man involved in a Christmas ‘coward punch’ in Doveton.
They released CCTV images on Monday 20 March seeking public help in relation to the assault, which occurred outside a Serbian club in Power Road, Doveton, about 1.45am on 25 December last year.
Detectives said a dispute between patrons occurred inside the club as it was closing after one man spilt a drink on another.
The scuffle continued into the parking lot.
Police said the victim, who involved himself in the scuffle, was confronted by one man and punched in the head from behind.
The victim fell to the ground and a second man repeatedly kicked him to the head.
This second man was described as Southern European in appearance, probably Serbian or Croatian, with dark-coloured crew cut hair, a heavily tattooed right upper arm and some facial hair.
He was wearing a white or cream-coloured polo-style shirt.
Police said they wanted to identify the man in the CCTV images as he would be of assistance to the investigation.
Call Senior Constable Tim Joustra at Casey CIU on 9705 3114 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
