Break in the rain to remember

By Casey Neill

The rain paused as dozens of people in Endeavour Hills came to a standstill to remember service men and women past and present.
The Dandenong Cranbourne RSL Sub-Branch held an Anzac Day service at the Peace Memorial on Heatherton Road on Friday 21 April.
Afghanistan veteran Scott May represented the RSL, reciting the Anzac Requiem, leading the crowd in reciting Lest We Forget and laying wreaths.
Bugler Alan Collard played the Last Post and Reveille, the crowd sang the Australian National Anthem and God Save the Queen, and piper Alistair Wright played Amazing Grace while attendees placed poppies at the memorial.
Dandenong’s Pillars of Freedom will host a dawn service at 6am on Tuesday 25 April.
At 9am, Vietnamese Veterans will conduct a service at the Vietnam War Memorial of Victoria, at Dandenong RSL.
A march down Clow Street to the Pillars of Freedom will then depart the RSL about 10.30am with a service to follow.
