An Endeavour Hills man has been charged after police pursued an allegedly stolen vehicle in Chadstone.

Police say they spotted the car bearing stolen number plates on Monash Freeway about 7.45pm on Thursday 31 January.

After a short pursuit, the driver fled on foot from the car at Bolwarra Street.

He was arrested by Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives a short time later.

Drugs were allegedly seized from the car.

A 31-year-old man was charged with car theft, trafficking a commercial quantity of GHB, and possessing methamphetamine and cannabis.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 February.
