Man crushed by skip

A 30-year-old man has suffered serious injuries in an industrial accident in Doveton.

Police say the man was trapped under a skip bin that fell from a crane in a yard on Green Street and Power Road about 10am on Tuesday 31 August.

FRV fire crews stated they found the worker trapped under a downed crane at the construction site.

“Three pumpers, a Heavy Rescue unit, a Hazmat unit and one specialist vehicle were deployed and managed to free the patient and place them into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics,” an FRV spokesperson said.

“The scene was brought under control at 11:03am.”

The worker was taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition with “serious lower body injuries”, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

WorkSafe inspectors examined the scene.
