Merc impounded for alleged speeding in school zone

A Springvale South suspended driver’s Mercedes was impounded after speeding up to 76 km/h in a school zone.

Police detected the car speeding in the 40 km/h zone on Kingston Road, Clarinda about 2.45pm on Friday 15 November.

The 60-year-old man was expected to be charged on summons with driving while suspended and exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 km/h.

The Mercedes was impounded at a cost of $992.52 for 30 days.

Police say they are regularly on the lookout for offences in school zones, such as speeding, using a mobile device while driving and failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing.
