Centre stage with Grace

RACING enthusiasts are expected to flock to Sportingbet Park on Saturday for Melbourne Racing Club’s final meet of the season, Sportingbet Sandown Guineas Day.
But it won’t just be the horses, owners, trainers and jockeys that will be the big winners and grab centre stage.
Performing the Australian National Anthem prior to the main race is talented Voice Kids 2014 finalist and racing sweetheart Grace Laing, the daughter of Cranbourne trainer Robbie.
A range of family friendly activities such as pony rides, face painting, jumping castles and a reptile farm are on offer, while stylish spectators can compete in the highly contested Sandown Guineas Fashions on the Field, which returns in 2014.
Hosted by model and presenter Bree Laughlin, the competition will see fashion hopefuls compete in kids, teens and adult categories.
Winners and runner-ups will be determined on their overall attention to detail, seasonal appropriateness and deportment, sharing in a $20,000 prize pool of luxury accommodation and shopping vouchers.
Another highlight for racegoers of all ages is the annual Mascot Race Showdown between Melbourne Racing Club’s own Clip Clop Clyde and Richmond Football Club’s Tiger Stripes Dyer.
Cheering Tiger Stripes Dyer on will be members of Richmond Football Club who will be on site hosting a range of football activities and welcome Richmond Football Club members granted free admission to the course.
Tickets prices for the day start at just $20 for adults, $10 concession and kids aged 13-and-under enter for free. If you’d prefer to enjoy the day in style and sophistication you can book private dining starting from $150.
