TREVOR Ratcliffe knows a thing or two about business and personal finance.
That’s why the retired public servant is launching the Skills for Life information sessions this month, beginning with tips on money management.
The Everyday Finances session will be presented by Lisa Hansen from the Casey North Community Information and Support Service (CISS) with the workshop aimed at showing the attendees how to best organise their finances to avoid getting stuck in debt.
“It’s about money management and managing your budget and we will also discover how to stretch your income further,” Skills For Life co-ordinator Mr Ratcliffe said.
“It will also show people what resources are available to help them, as well as how to save money on utility bills and knowing your rights and responsibilities.”
Mr Ratcliffe is planning for seven information sessions that will run up to June.
The topics of the sessions, which are to be held at the Community Room at Narre Warren North Uniting Church, will range from family relationships, baby care, men’s health, mental health and dementia.
Mr Ratcliffe said the announcement of his project had been welcomed by local community organisations that are keen to expand their audience.
“I’ve always had a bit of a passion about helping people to help themselves, whether it comes back to a feeling of self-worth or self-esteem,” he said.
“Even if people aren’t having financial problems, we’d all like to afford a better lifestyle.”
