Works have started on upgrades to Hallam Recreation Hall.

The $1.77 million refurbishment by City of Casey includes new panelling inside and out, kitchen, flooring and lighting.

It is expected to allow the hall to host a wider range of recreational programs and community events when works finish in April 2020.

Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan helped turn the first sod of works on 16 August.

“It’s a great example of how we are ensuring facilities are able to provide greater participation opportunities and support growing communities.”

The project was joint funded by an $885,000 State Government contribution from its Growing Suburbs Fund.

The fund has provided more than $25 million towards 16 projects in Casey.
