Covid-19: Ilim College closes

A Doveton school has temporarily closed as a Covid “precautionary measure”.

Ilim College announced the closure of campuses in Dallas, Glenroy and Doveton on Thursday 5 August pending advice from the Department of Health.

It came after a staff member at Al-Taqwa College in Truganina tested positive for Covid-19.

“We must reiterate that Ilim College has not had any positive Covid results from this outbreak,” an Ilim College post on Facebook stated.

“The closure of our campuses is a precautionary measure for all our students, employees, families, and community.”

Ilim College advised it would provide further updates on 5 August about its course of action the following day.

“In line with advice from the Victorian Government, please ensure you are checking the exposure sites and get tested accordingly.”

The Al-Taqwa College staff member was a female in her 20’s from Hobson Bay.

The college’s 2400 staff and students – as well as their families – were advised to get immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days.
