COUNCILLOR Peter Brown’s safety concerns about the new Noble Park Skate Park have earned him a nickname in skating circles. Grumpy Old Guy appears on a number of memes posted online making light of his calls for investigations into bowl heights at the Ross Reserve facility. The Journal couldn’t help but chuckle at the, ahem, high-quality editing work and witty text.

A DANDENONG police officer got a welcome surprise last week.
When coming out to the front desk to meet with reporters for their weekly media briefing, the officer was struck by the fact that no one else was in the Dandenong Police Station foyer waiting to see the cops.
He was heard remarking that in all of his years of policing “I’ve never seen this place empty“.

SPRINGVALE’S Multicultural Men’s Shed raised about $900 at a recent trivia night at Springvale Uniting Church.
The Australian first facility has been ticking along nicely since opening its doors in February.
It’s receiving support from throughout the community, including about $40,000 a year from the Springvale RSL.
“We are most fortunate to have forged such a positive relationship with the Springvale RSL,” Cr Roz Blades said.

THE Journal was thrilled to see Dandenong’s delicious cuisine highlighted in the Herald Sun last week.
The 30 June Taste lift-out centre spread featured 10 foodie favourites – from burgers to bread, kebabs, sausages and more.
They’ve all made previous appearances in the Journal for their success and it was great to see them receive recognition on a bigger scale.
