TAKING the world by storm one magic trick at a time Paul Cosentino first started his love affair with mystery, illusion and escapology with books from his local library in Lysterfield.
Now with his second magic kit hitting stores this Christmas, the charmed star who now goes by the name ‘Cosentino’ said practice was what truly made a great magician.
“I started doing magic at 12 years old mostly with books and then a kit, and these days with the internet it’s so much easier to master the skills,” Cosentino said.
Still practising his skills 20 years on after coming second in the 2011 series of Australia’s Got Talent (AGT) and a successful television series on Channel Seven, Cos spends most of his time at his custom- built studio in Hallam- the place where he did most of his thinking for his newest magic kit, ‘Astonishing Magic’.
“The theme of this kit is learning the fundamentals of magic; it has 200 tricks to learn and it covers shuffling cards to mathematical tricks for all ages,” he said.
Known for his gasp worthy tricks, Cos has gained world-wide fame which is a long way from where he first started performing to high school students.
“The first shows I did were school incursions, and when I was 17 years old I would teach children as well – I was a kid teaching kids magic,” he said.
After stealing hearts with his mystical ways four years ago, Cos said he didn’t expect a lot of what’s come his way since AGT- except one thing.
“I never expected 350 million people would tune into my TV show which has been aired in 40 countries. I never expected to win Dancing with the Stars or have people writing to me in Spanish on my Facebook page.
“But I always knew I’d be a magician,” he said.
