Stolen taxi set alight, dumped in creek

THE Eumemmerring Creek bed became a fire pit after thieves rolled a stolen taxi down the embankment, after setting it ablaze.
The taxi was stolen from Hughesdale around 4.30am on Tuesday 17 May, exactly one hour and 40 minutes prior to it being dumped in the creek off Laurel Avenue in Doveton.
CFA and police attended the blaze about 6.10am on Tuesday and extinguished the fire.
