BALACLAVA-clad thieves attacked a man unloading groceries at his Hallam home and stole his car.
Police said two men approached the victim in Albert Road about 3pm on Thursday 11 August and demanded the keys to his new Holden SS Commodore.
They assaulted the victim and took the keys and car, which was found crashed into bushes beside the Belgrave-Hallam Road Monash Freeway on-ramp a short time later.
The occupants fled the scene. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
